BEAR TRUST CORE PROGRAM INITIATIVES:
Bear Trust believes that the future of conservation lies in education. Bear Trust is developing a Teacher's Guide for The Bear Book, as well as an Education Program based on wild bear research in New Jersey and Montana.
Bear Trust publishes conservation education materials such as The Bear Book and the upcoming children's book on "The Adventures of Missy the Bear Biologist". Bear Trust previously offered Teachers on Track, an online directory listing continuing education and professional development opportunities for teachers.

Wild Bear Research and Management
Bear Trust contributes to Wild Bear Research and Management by working with local, state, and federal agencies and universities on meaningful research that enhances our understanding of bears, particularly at the human-wildlife interface. In addition, Bear Trust works with the International Association for Bear Research and Management (IBA) in choosing wild bear research projects that advance the Bear Trust mission to help conserve all eight species of bears.

The loss of habitat is the major threat to wild bears. Bear Trust supports efforts, such as the purchase of conservation easements in bear country, that protect bear habitat in perpetuity.
